That would have to be one big ass muffler clamp. The Ford fix for it is a big hose clamp. Take a rubber hammer and work your way up the exhaust system giving a good rap every so often. You'll know if you're heat shield is loose when you do this.big muffler clamp8.54 @ 159 mph on a 275 drag radial
5.43 @ 127 mph to the 1/8
8.91 @ 153 in True Street legal trim

Alright wise guys, go to checker and ask for a big MUFFLER CLAMP and see what you get! It's a hose clamp style screw thing.Originally posted by allstock93gt
nick your good! actual recommended way is to reweld if possible! if not use a HOSE CLAMP! or if you just dont care remove and never have that one rattle again! just keep the ones on the floor board side of the cats!
And no, Ford DOES recommend putting a clamp on there. i'm sure welding works better, but go on the Ford database, find the TSB and get back to me.

Maybe your cats came apart inside. There was a recall for the older cars because of this happening. Try hitting the converter directly pretty hard with a rubber hammer. Maybe it's something else but it happened on mine when I first bought it.Well, there's your first problem. If it ain't chrome, they don't have it. The one by my house told a customer of mine that a wheel cylinder for an '89 Bonneville was a dealer only item.Alright wise guys, go to checker
I'm pretty sure Scott wouldn't have a problem doing that as he is a tech. at a lincoln/mercury dealer. From what I remember, (I used to be a tech. there also) Ford's first fix for it was to reweld IF POSSIBLE, if not, then the correct fix was a big hose clamp.but go on the Ford database, find the TSB and get back to me.

<sigh> pardon my choice of store for my example.
And i have no doubt one of you will be posting the TSB sooner or later in order to find something wrong with anything else i've said. Gotta love tech boards. Everyone's a genius.
<-- do this with my advice jj. i am a moron.
