Thinking about getting a C&L intake setup

I want to do some intake mod to go along with the nitrous for next spring.

I would like to go with a aftermarket MAF with some kind of pipe. The densecharger is out of the question because they don't fit with strut tower braces. I might go with the C&L inlet pipe because its wide and works with the C&L 85mm MAF. I could just buy the two together.

Plus the inlet pipe has a predrilled hole for putting a nitrous nozzle in.

Anyone offer any input on the matter?

I had ran an 80mm C&L maf for quite a while and was always happy with it. It picked up only 3rwhp peak on my setup, but was good for nearly 5average hp throughout the power band.

My buddy ran the C&L 76mm maf and aluminum inlet elbow on his 95 GT with cam, and ported heads. And he picked up 16rwhp with it over the stock MAF on a back to back dyno run.

      Interesting.

The only negative rumor I've heard about C&L setups is it MAY cause your car to not idle properly.

That sounds like a pretty far fetched rumor. The C&L uses the stock electronics, and uses sample tubes to ajust for the cars injectors, and where ProM manipulates the maf electronics.

I had some idle issues with mine when I put it on, but only on cold starts.

I've been running my 76mm setup for 6 months now with zero problems. I love this mod on a 5.0, not sure about 4.6's. I think 85 may be a little large unless you're getting a blower. I would prolly go with an 80mm, :unf:

The 4.6l reacts to large MAFs and TBs better than the 5.0L does.

i put my 76mm with the intake elbow on about a year and a half ago... i think my motor was a little overdue for it because it REALLY wakened up my car. Was probably one of the best feeling mods i've ever done (besides gears). The car ran soooo much smoother, and pulled so harder, you could definitely feel it.
it was one of those mods where you put it in and take it for the usual beat run afterwards... and just have the biggest smile on your face afterwards.

After you get the C&L you should really save your money. The NOSzle kit costs about a grand. Oh yeah which kit were you looking at? ahem ahem

Also a very nice kit. I like that one and the ZEX dry kit. I have to decide between them some day.

but you do have to admit that direct port system is very tempting.
