only 300hp, that's not good . how much to build them up (ball park figure)? when the time comes, i was planning on either rebuilding the T-5 or swapping out a T-45 out of my 97' gt and into my 87' gt. is the T-45 any better?

you can get G-force internals or send them your case and they'll send you a new one... http://www.gforcetransmissions.com/tran_gt-5.asp

basically they are rated at 600hp on a t-5

it's all in how you treat them in my opinion.
there seems to be alot of people in the 11s with stock t5's with alot of power, including me!
don't powershift, use good fluid, use a good shifter, and get a tranny friendly clutch, no spec stage 3's!!

If you can shift they hold up fine to 300-350 hp, no problems here I broke the drive shaft before the trans.

The T-5 is a pretty tough tranny for a stock piece. It can handle quite a bit.
New and old, they perform well.

Granted I havent had a lot of power for long, but dont beat the hell out of the tranny and you should be good.

The T5 is rated for 300ft/lb. I have approx 430 and I havent had any issues yet.

                  I disagree.

that's the kind of response i want to hear . i'm hoping when the tranny lets go, i'm just going to rebuild it and throw it back on. i'm just a little worried with the age of my car (87) and the miles (120,000) that the tranny could let go anytime (due to the pounding it will take once i install the 100 shot ).
lets say i have about 300rwhp NA and 400+ with a 100-150 shot, would it be wise to go with a T-5 rebuild. i'm thinking the only time i'll spray is at the track (which i don't make it to very often) or if i have something set up out on the street. so i would say 90% of the time will be NA. i don't plan on beating the hell out of it .

btw, they were rated at 300ft/lbs starting in '90, before that it was 260 ft./lbs.

i still wouldn't worry about it though.

, i'm just checking my options. maybe i'll get lucky and have no problems, but it's always good to be ready. it can get pretty spendy building these tranny's up (checked out those G-force internals and TKO's = mo money mo money). i'm just hoping when it does let go, i can get by with just a simple rebuild .
