questions i need answers to about my car.

i posted this on another forum and im posting it on this one also. does anyone know what this could be?

my car is a slug. i just wanted to get that out of the way.
    stock 95 vert 5spd.

for over a year i get the cel almost daily but it gos off within 10-15 seconds. every time.
i had the codes pulled last year and got these....

    181
Heated Exhaust Gas Oxygen sensor - voltage signal not switching: indicates "lean" during part throttle engine operation (bank #1)

    189
Heated Exhaust Gas Oxygen sensor - voltage signal not switching indicates "lean" during part throttle enginer operation (bank #2)

now when i first pulled them both those codes came up then we cleared them and just the 189 came up.

well i opened up my stock air box and sprayed some electric cleaner on the maf sensor and it seemed not to trip the cel as much or with as much frequency.
but i never did anything about it except the maf cleaning.
now fast forward a year and its tripping the cel alot agian.

my car starts and idles perfect.
    no roughness at all.
but its accelaration is pretty slow. takes forever to build revs.
seems like an eternity to get near redline.
now i know the 2.73 gears dont help but wtf?

so i bought a fuel filter and want to install that, could that be the problem?

the cel never seems to do any harm so i have ignored it all this time.
but now i have extra time on my hands to solve this.

ive been searching this forum for everything about maf, throttle body, injector cleaning. also slow sluggish feeling cars. trying to find something.

give me some good advice about what it could be?
plugs, wires, cap and rotor are only about 1 yr old.

    thanks mark.

have you relaced your o2 sensors? I would change out the fuel filter, because it is cheap and prolly should be done anyway. If it has been a while, change out the o2s too.

Plus they never wear out.

        I disagree.

So did you take the electronics off the meter and clean the elements with a Q-tip? Or did you just spray it with something?

If you haven't cleaned off the elements, I'd take out the electronics, and lightly clean off the elements with a Q-tip and a little alcohol or brake cleaner.

killer bee do you think trying your extras would be a good idea to narrow it down?
              where are you?
yeah when i cleaned the maf i just opened up the air box duct and seen the maf in there and shot it a few times with electric parts cleaner(what i was told to use buy a few guys) but this was a year ago i did that.

also,i have a new fuel filter i just got but dont know where it gos(i suck and dont know my car very well)

o2s i have never replaced, there stock for all i know. everything else is

ok i bought some electric parts cleaner from checker(same stuff i used last year) and i opened up the air box so i could look into the mass air and the screen was FILTHY every time i touched the screen with the q-tip it made a shiny streak where the q-tip was and the q-tip was black. so i used a small cloth to clean the screen up.
then i used the cleaner and sprayed it into the mass air, mostly on the spring its self.
it has been about 2 hours and i have not started the car let. want to make sure its fully dry.
also i checked the throttle body and it was spotless!!! so i guess thats not a problem at all.
im going to take the car out soon for a test.

much more power now and pulls alot better to redline now.

                  maf cleaning helped alot.
plus i disconnected the battery so it reset my ecu. so far no cel but its only been one night?

sounds like you just had a bunch of dirt

still a good idea to install the fuel filter and sensors though.

I have owned a couple of 94/95 gt's with bad mass air flow sensors. If your problem happens again look toward that. I had the same codes, replaced both O2's and that helped nothing.
