    Clutch cable questions

today i installed my adjustable cable and firewall adjuster. i adjusted the cable per the instructions. it now seems that when i push the clutch pedal all the way to the floor and then let it out, a creaking sound is comeing from the clutch fork. could this be from the fork traveling to far?

thanks for your help in advance.

how tight do you have the cable? If it twangs like a guitar string it's too tight.

i don't think i have it that tight. it only kind of makes a creaking sound when the pedal comes off of the floor.

how much play should there be in the pedal?

are you sure it's not the firewall mount or strut tower mount? If those are moving you would hear a creak also.

i am almost 99.9% sure it is coming from inside the bellhousing. i could be mistaken though.

it might be where the cable attatches to the fork...
but the only real way to know is to get under there and have someone push the clutch for you.
or get some louder exhaust and that irritating noise will magically go away

should i try lubbing the cable where it comes in contact with the clutch fork?

i lubbed the clutch fork and where the clutch fork makes contact with the input shaft on the tranny. supposedly that is what the problem was. it doesn't make the sound anymore.

i also adjusted the cable so that there is about 1/2 of play on the pedal.

one question that i still have, is how do i adjust where the clutch starts engauging? or is that something with the pressure plate?
