Liz's car is making a plastic tapping noise. Lat car for her that did that broke the timing belt. Lucily for her it wasnt an interference motor. Can anyone tell me if the 98 with the DOHC motor 2.0 is an interference motor. I have looked all over online and found no list of the interference motors for any manufacturer. Please let me know soon.

Always assume it's an interference. I'd get it checked. Can you take the timing cover off and see how the belt is doing? Some of the backing may have come off and may be the cause for this "plastic tapping" sound you describe.god damned tinypic.
