I am looking to pump up my 2002 mustang. I first want to let it breath i am i looking for a good exhaust that isnt going to suck all my cash. I have seen some flowmaster cat backs on ebay and i am wondering if anyone has any oppinions.

BBK long tubes, BBK off road Hpipe and then either Flowmaster American Thunder cat back, or Mac Tru-Fit catback. I have heard both and they sound killer.

The horsepower to dollar ratio on a catback exhaust for your car is pretty crappy (like 5hp for $400+). You will gain as much or more horsepower going with an 'off-road' H- or X-pipe and they are about half the cost of a catback, plus it will give you a little extra sound. If you are more concerned with sound, a Flowmaster cat-back is a good choice.

      Welcome, by the way.

i got a cat-back (magnaflow) installed onto my 04 GT, it sounds really nice (get the magna pack, magnaflows offer 2 options), ive noticed an awesome sound and a nice power increase so i would highly reccomend it. cost 588 at mas racing.

            Thanks for the tips!

What about shops where i can pick these up, also is ebay an ok choice for parts, the price looks good but i am skeptical.

I agree with emart. I recently got a magnaflow cat back exhaust for my 02 V6 and it sounds great! As for power, I notices a little...but not much. I opted for the direct bolt on system that bolted up to the factory Y pipe in my car. If you plan on doing some heavy mods to your car, then I'd definatly go with an off road H or X pipe and go true dual. if you're not looking to mod your car up a lot, I'd go with a direct bolt on kit like mine; there is a chance you could lose some power if you go with a true dual set up and stay completly stock....but thats if you have a V6. If you have the V8 then go to a custom shop and have them slap on an offroad H or X, get the mufflers you want and they'll do the rest.

Mac makes a decent set of 1 5/8" long tube headers painted cost is $349.00.
ceramic coated price is $459.00. They also have a cat back system 2 1/2 inch with SS 3" tips. Cost is $379.00. Price includes shipping, tax is extra.
Install is $700 on the headers (they suck). Cat back install is $200. You will need a high flow h-pipe or custom section to go between the headers and the catback. With a tune you can expect another 12-15hp and 14-18#s of torque at the wheels.

flowmaster sounds great but I have heard that they do nothing for power. Consequently, that is what i have on mine. Magnaflows sound good. borla is spendy but sounds good. Bassani is spendy and sounds good. Your typical mustang will have flowmaster on it.

I'd go with Flowmasters! I believe "MacStang" has a pair of Flowmasters for sale too!

The H-pipe goes in-line between the headers and the "cat-back" exhaust (Flowmaster, e.g.). You can add the H-pipe now and use it with your stock headers and catback, or get the aftermarket cat-back at the same time.
