Top end sounding rattle on my 01 Bullitt 4.6

hi all, looking for anyone who's seen /heard anything about possible valve train noise leading to issues on a 4.6

i've 51k miles on mine(some of those were put on 1/4 mi at a time), and it's started to rattle between 2-3k RPMs when accelerating.

ideas on what it could be ?

If I take off the valve covers will I be able to see anything obvious ??

    any help would be great,
    thanks

        bad news,
stopped by lincoln dealer on 61, just to have someone take a real life listen.
he's thinking it's bottom - end, prolly bearings. the way it knocks coming off of idle. ( and an exhaust leak too by the way, which I'd not noticed... but the custom exhaust hangs low and bumps on crap no matter how careful I am)
After Driving it awhile, I'm tending to agree. Bad ugly news for me though.

I'm eyebrow - deep in my '73 convertible restore, and do not have resources to dive into this right now. he really needs to make it through the summer (I've a bike and a truck to help with that).

If I want to just replace the whole short block, could I use this:

I'm *assuming* this is an alum. TEKSID block, correct ??

        thoughts ?
        input ??

That towncar motor will be an iron block. Should be the same shortblock.

Can't hear the noise in the video....

It might be the timing chain guides...

I find it hard to believe that it would be bottom end noise only at certain RPM.

The set up can come out together but its a pain in the ass without the correct tools. What am I saying, its a pain in the ass with the correct tools, but its possible. I've dealt with a few of these and would be more than happy to take a look at it for ya if you can get it to me. Don't just take a dealer's word for it that your bottom end is shot. Always get a second opinion. PM me if you have any other questions.

You second long video clips did not have any good audio. Does it sound like this crapbox? http://youtu.be/SiXzMNclvxQ
A good audio recording might help, or better yet a personal look from a TCS expert. I've delt with a couple of timing chain issues on the 4.6 (both pickups) and both were not a terrible fix, didn't need any special tools. Cloyes makes a good set. Goodluck.

Not as high pitch as a ding, not as loud as a boom, more of a thunk?!?
Not as loud as the other video though...
