After disconnecting battery on a 1999 regal for a few days, I now have a b1001,b1015 code.My research shows i need a tech 2 to reset the vin mismatch.Has anybody seen this before ?Anyone have a tech 2 at their disposal?Any help would be appreciated.

Weird to have mismatched vins from disconnecting the battery. Haven't seen that very often. No other repairs performed? I usually only see this if someone replaced the bcm/pcm/sdm with a new or used part. If nothing was replaced you can try to clear codes and re-enter the vin info with a tech2. Chances are you'll find the bcm is taking a shit or someone dumped a 32oz coke at the wendys drive threw on the sdm under your carpet. The sdm has now died from diabetes.

Tech2 is the only scan tool I've used that can read/change vin info in modules. There probably are others that can handle doing this on '99 technology, but I've never personally used anything else.Originally posted by brobber01 View Postreplaced valve cover gaskets over a weekend. One famoliy car since new.We have tried clearing the codes with a genisys but it instantly comes back.Is the tech 2 the only tool that allows VIN resets?
