    93 Buick Help

My unemployed soon to start a new job son has a 93 Buick Century with the 3300 engine Yesterday it started then stalled and would restart for just a few seconds. Having exeperienced this problem before I unplugged the MAF sensor and it started right up. In my experience leaving it unplugged let the car run ( mine ran for years with out it) after I unplug it but this one will run for awhile and them die , if I plug it back in it will start and run for a short time then die but run again after I unplug it again. Am I correct in thinking it's the MAS or could it be some thing else?

Did your brother come look at it over at the gas station? Or do we have 2 broken 93 Puicks in the shoptalk section?

        Oh, what are the odds?

The MAF could be the culprit, but if you have a large vacuum leak it will also run with the MAF unplugged and stall when you plug it in.

When it does this try unplugging the vacuum line off of the fuel pressure regulator to see if any gas is present.

No gas when unplugging the fuel regulator, plenty of fuel at the rail. Runs with MAF unplugged, stalls when it's plugged back in. I'll pick one up tomorrow, he was hired at a new job making more money than me and starts Thursday. Gotta keep him employed so he can support me, times are tough. LOL

What are the odds? I replaced the MAF and the car ran great. My son comes over this morning, picks it up and it quits a couple of miles from my house. Tow it home, check the fuel pressure and it is 0. I replaced the pump and it started right up, and ran great so just for fun I swapped the old MAF back on and it would not run. Could the two problems be related or am I just a lucky guy?

You would be surprised how often compound problems occur. I had a 3.4L grand am that had a shorted o2 sensor, bad maf, and a leaking fuel regulator, and the only complaint they had was poor idle and bad fuel economy lol.
