Anyone using E85 and have a catch can / seperator?

I just installed an air/water seperator coming from the passenger side valve cover. I just had it with a breather before. Drivers side still just has a breather. I figured it would slowly fill up with oil, but I was surprised today to see that it is filled at least 1/4 of the way with clear liquid...I'm assuming it's E85 that collected from vapors eminating from the crankcase. It's been installed for 2 whole days and it's already 1/4 full of what I'm guessing is E85 vapors in liquid form.

Anyone else run into this? I'm guessing that it's just been leaving my crankcase in vapor form forever so I'm not too concerned about it. My car does not run exceptionally rich but obviously there is a lot of fuel volume going through the engine under boost at low-mid 11s air fuel ratio. Maybe my engine is getting a little 'loose'....

Side note: They aren't switching blends already are they? I had to turn my fuel pressure down 5psi to get back to my 'standard' full E85 air/fuel ratio. Maybe I got a weak tank of fuel.

do you have a good can that doesn't allow the fluid to come back into the line? you could be catching a 1/3rd of what's going through there. Billet Technologies has a really good can that keeps liquid from coming back up and going out the line. There are a few 2-3 part catch cans out there.

I have to dump the Billet can on the SRT all the time, I get about a 1/8th of a quart of oil between oil changes from the PCV.

Not sure what you mean. I just have a line that goes from the passenger side valve cover to the seperator and then it just vents to atmosphere via a breather.

Wow, and you're catching that much shit? I would hook up the line to carry back and forth to keep a good vent going on the valve covers to prevent build up. People claim when you're just venting that it's alright, but you're really causing a ton of build up. You might start catching oil that's passing around.

There have been quite a few stations this year that haven't changed their blends from winter blends to the summer blends. Do you usually fill up at the same station? Have you checked the fuel lately? I have one of those Kent Moore Ethanol Content testers and use it often.

Although I have catch can I have yet to use it.

On your question about winter blends. I fill up at the same station almost every time. And in the last 2 weeks I have had to pull 15% out of the cruise settings and 8%I out of wot. I think it is safe to assume they are going to winter blend. I switched my car to gas today mainly because I didn't want to fiddle with it anymore.

Yeah, there are two Holiday stations that I fill up at 95% of the time. They definitely went to summer blend because I had to add quite a bit of fuel in the early summer. I do not have a fuel checker.

I had a ton of clear liquid in both my 1 qt catch cans. It tasted sweet, almost like coolant, but i know it wasn't coolant.

Mine did the same thing but not nearly as much as you're describing. I think its just oily water, not fuel.

I would agree. For the short time I was on E85 the moisture on humid days in the upper valve train was crazy. I have a vacuume pump and the catch can was always about 1/3 full of oily water.

Think of it like your toilet tank on hot humid days.
It is a damn poor mind indeed which can't think of at least two ways to spell any word.

its too much fuel and its getting past the rings and thus ending up into said catch can.
