    93 mustang convertable 4cyl to v8 swap

I got a lot of stuff figured out, fuel, and got the gt spindles thanks to budderigs. I am installing a UPR tube K member and a arms with the coil over struts. My question is the 4cyl sway bar the same or close enough? Also the old k member had some braces under it. Do I need to try and put something like that under it? I built a custom frame supports underneath. Not worried about the main part of the car, maybe just the radiator support area if it needs it. Only running about 300 hp. Figured someone has done this before. Thanks, Rick

Are you talking about the X brace toward the front of the car? I have a 93 vert and it had an X brace from the factory but it has since been removed when I got my tubular K-member installed, and the front 2 braces were removed to fit my intercooler. If that is what you are speaking of, I'm not sure if you will need them anymore.

Yeah Steve that's what I was wondering about. Didn't think I needed them. I googled the other answer for the sway bar. The V8 one is thicker but mine should be fine. I had two more questions for you. Where should I set my coil over adjustment to start and what rear spring are you running. Stock? I am just driving on the street, no racing. Thanks, Rick

One more question if you get a chance. Did you have to move your sway bar mounting brackets with the k-member setup? I know yours is a factory v8 and mine was a 4cyl car so there are some differences. Just wondering as I am ordering more parts and putting mine together. Thanks.

shouldn't have to move the sway bar brackets..

          what size/weight springs?

Do you have spherical bearing caster/camber plates for the coil overs? the stockers will not work with them...

The only difference in mounting the V8 and 4-cyl sway bars is the bushing inside of the mount. In a pinch, I've used a knife and the 4-cyl bushings to put V8 bars in the front. I really wouldn't recommend it ... but I was putting the car together with $0 and thought I needed a sway bar.

One of the most fun combinations I've had to drive was 4-cyl springs on all four corners, no front sway bar, and a V8 sway bar in the back. Stupid little thing would lift the front end by just looking at the gas.

That said, Rick, I've done this a few times, if you need some help or want someone to look it over just give me or my Dad a call and I'll come by.

Sweet thanks, I ordered new 15/16 bushings so I can put the 4cyl bar on it. Have steeda links. Just got a Glenn's performance fuel system yesterday so it's coming together. Got the Gt brake spindles so I can run 11inch rotors. Still remember you talking about that. A really good idea. I have the money to build it right but sill like to spend it wisely. I am planning on using it as a daily driver so not getting too radical. The car has 191k on it so would like to put all new brakes and other stuff so I don't have to do anything to it later. You and your dad will have to come check it out when I get it done.

Got most of the suspension done. Had to grind one little spot on the k-member for the rack and pinion clearance. Going to buy new rotors and calipers. Does anyone here know what kind are reasonally price but good? 11 inch. Maybe slotted and cross drilled.

Power Slot rotors and good name brand ceramic pads (Hawk, APS, EBC, Power Stop, ect..)

I have Power Slot SVO rotors (5 lug) and Power Stop ceramic pads and they work great together

get stock reman calipers or caliper rebuild kits and rebuild the stockers
