two problems with my 98 cav. would like to fix today.

so i have a 98 chevy cavilar. car has 150k on it. has a 5 speed with the 2.2l

my first problem is the clutch pedal just got really loose. when i push all the way to the floor, i feel like it should even go a tad bit more before i shift. sometimes i have the pedal all the way down and shift and it clunks in gear cuz i should be ingauging it more. Would this be a bad/or going bad slave cylinder? or can i adjust the pedal to be harder right away so it ingauges more? im very green so bare with me. any help or any suggestions would be much appriciated, Thanks

second problem. My heat gets hot but it doesnt seem to blow out of the vents that hard. when i bought the car they said they replaced the heater motor. When i turn it from low/medim/high, i can hear the motor getting loader each time... Also it seems like it does not blow on the floor, just the upper vents. When im driving my heat guage is right on the low mark, if i had a bad thermastat, could that cause my problem? i talked to a machanic and he told me i probably have something claugging my vents... Id hate to rip it apart to find out its something simple... when its 30+ dagrees out i dont even notice, when its colder im cold from the waist down.

Is there a cabin filter on the car i can check?

Again, any help would be greatly appriciated.

I have never worked on a 5 speed cavi, but there is probably a bleeder on the slave cylinder. Before you replace it try to bleeding the air out of it.

As for the heater, put a new thermostat in it, it's the cheapest and easiest place to start. I've owned 2 2.2L cavis and they always blow very hot air.

ok, but thats not going to fix my problem of the heat not blowing on the floor. Think that would be a bad line that causes the vent to open?

The heater door whatever the fuck isn't moving. I've gotten them going again just moving the heater controls back and forth between floor, bi-lev and defrost a bunch of times.

i checked the fluid, there wasnt any in there... so i filled and bleeded the air outa it. It fixed the problem for now, but my concerns are why it happend in the first place, prob a bad slave thats leaking? i read up a little and it looks like a big job to replace. will see how long till the fluid i put in is gone.

There is probably a bad vacuum line or actuator. You will have to find the vent door that controls where the heat goes and test it with a vacuum pump.
