  • Bolt on's to drop into the 14's

I have a fairly stock 96 gt/5spd. 3.27 posi (stock) and just the force 2 flowmaster exhaust. i was wondering what a 96 gt could hit stock as opposed to my exhaust system and say an intake and pulleys. i was also wondering what other inexpensive mods i could easily bolt on....my target is mid 14's. the slowest i'd like to run is 14.9

What do you run at the track now?

Gears (between 3.73 and 4.10), a good dyno tune (better than just a chip, tuned for your vehicle), pullies(I have some for sale ), cold air intake, PI Cam/heads/intake swap.

I think the PI swap alone would put you in the 14's.

Ya got a budget in mind? that would healp with more realistic sugestions.
I say gears, pullies are good. Those should get you there with some DRs

      I disagree.

Actually, if you talk to the right people, a PI swap can be the most bang for your buck. I have some numbers you can call if you want.

i would deffinitley do gears. 3.73's at the very least.

The PI head/intake/cam swap will be well worth it. A set of custom cams will raise your power level by quite a bit. JDP0244 has had 2 different cams in his car, so any questions you could probably ask him.

Ron (Zinc_00_GT) is very knowledgable about the 4.6 engines, he knows what he is doing with those engines.

Casey (Sweet35th) does a lot of installs and also drives a 99+ GT with a blower on it. Any of these guys can help you with questions regaurding your 4.6.

(when i say keep up i dont mean im almost there...its more or less litterly RIGHT next to eachother....maybe i should run my car and then figure out how much i need to drop.

You certainly don't have to do heads/cams/intake to hit the 14's, it all depends on your driving! Gears, underdrive pullies and a set of drag radials would easily get you there with decent driving.

                  p.s., your buddy should be faster than a 14.7! I went 14.8 in a BONE stock 94 5spd 2 days after I bought it.

well i didn't say that it would just leave you at the 14's. i was suggesting parts to you that would certainly get you into the 14's and should get you in the 13's.

Gears and do a PI intake swap (just the intake, it works, I have done it). You can pick the intake up used on Ebay or mustang forums quite often for about $100-150. Is worth over 25rwhp at around 5500rpm. and about 11rwhp peak to peak. Huge top end gains.
I send myself PM's so I roll with a full inbox! Sweet35th style!

EXPERIENCE!!! just take your car to the track and see what it can do! then start to add simple bolt on stuff like pulleys, intake, throttle body, plenum and such
