'99 Mach 460 Front Speaker Replacement

I replaced my stock deck last spring with a JVC unit. I have an aftermarket sub in the trunk with it's own amp. I would like to replace the door speakers with some Boston components that I have laying around. I've been doing some research and it looks like the only way to do this right is to dump the stock Mach 460 amps.

1) Can anyone tell me otherwise? Any way to use the stock amps with aftermarket speakers?

2) If I put in a new amp for the fronts, can I leave the rears in place hooked up as is?

Any other thoughts?

I'd bypass the amps if you want to use your boston component crossovers. if my memory serves me right the deck does the power for the tweets and the amps do the power for the woofers.

I've read similar, and was thinking if the mid/tweeters are getting a full range signal from my head unit, I could just tie in there and use the crossover on the Bostons. The only issue is if the mid/tweet signal is already going through an amp and is being crossed over already.

Anyone know of any way to test if a signal is full range or not?

real time analyzer, its basically a spectrum analyzer. White noise is an even amount of every frequency and you'd use an RTA to physically what kind of response you'd get out of the speaker.

I guess if you wanted to go a cheap way you could take a home theater or bookshelf speaker and hook it up to that speaker lead, if it sounds like there is no bass than it would have a high pass filter on it. The reason why I say home speaker is that if you hook up a car speaker that isn't laying around it will always sound like its got a high pass filter on it unless you have it mounted on a baffle. If the speaker isn't mounted then high and low pressure waves on each side of the cone with cancel each other out around the edge of the speaker. Home speakers are already in an enclosure so you wouldn't have to worry about any of that jazz.

If the boston crossovers are ran with the stock amp setup it would be fine that way also. Since all it will do is block what freq.s boston blocks for warr. issues etc. I would still hook up a speaker and turn bass up and see how much is passing through, since in front there shouldnt be much. It really comes down to what you like. I personally would think the stock amp setup should be fine for anything outside of tweets. Hope that helps some. Also ampd power will be much better than any JVC power, no offense.
