    stupid seat belt

The dammed thing won't save my life if I crash...It gets "drawn out", has too much slack. It doesn't snap back when my big butt gets out of the driver's seat...Is there any cheap/easy way to try and fix this? It's only been doing this since Friday, when I think the belt got tangled up in itself.

Please don't say someone has to take that whole interior panel off

Does your passenger seat do it? If not pull the passenger side belt in and out. Get to know what its supposed to look like. If your drivers side doesn't look the same its probably tangled up.

If its tangled, and if you have the tool. You could take the bolt out that is not behind the interior panel. Then, pull the belt out and twist it back to normal.

    Laterrrrrrr

Seat belts are covered by 5 year 60,000 mile warrenty. Take it to the dealer. (Hopefully your car wasnt bought in late 2000)
I send myself PM's so I roll with a full inbox! Sweet35th style!

That's probably going to be the plan since I have a tendency to :cuss: things up when I try to fix them.

My 94 GT, 96 Cobra, and the 04 Mach all have had the same problem with twisted seat belts. I think it has something to do with the angle it goes back in at when retracting (my shoulder is higher than the seat back, so the belt tends to "fold" as it goes through the guide slot.)

Sometimes the fix is easy (but a little time consuming).
Pull the seat belt out as far as it will go, if you can see where the twist is, then work that twist out towards the seat belt guide mounted to the pilar. Once you get to that little narrow slot, fold the belt at a 45 degree angle, and slide it through the guide slot, straighten out the fold, and your done.

Its a PITA, but it works.

But I agree, if its still under warranty, let Ford fix it.

I might do that! Especially if it wants to start tangling again after the warranty is up.
