    Chevy Truck Overcooling?

Just wondering if anybody on here has a 89-98 chevy truck and if they could check their temp gauge and let me know where theirs reads at normal operating temp.

I have replaced my thermostat and coolant temp sensor and the gauge still only goes up to halfway between 100 and 210. I put in a 195 Premium thermostat, see picture below!

Ground the wire on the sensor. The gauge should max out. If not, you have a bad gauge. I can't remember if there are 2 sensors though. This a 350?

It is a 91 with a 350, I changed the temp sensor right at the intake by the thermostat.

Didn't know there was more than one sensor!

The only thing that controls minimum temperature is the thermostat. Either you got a bad one (doubtful) or your gauge is a little off (likely)

Have you checked the actual water temp coming out of the thermostat? I'd let it go.

Haven't really checked the temp at thermostat, I know that thermostat is working.
I doubt there is an intake leak as the truck only has 82xxx miles on it

I taped a meat thermometer to the radiator hose and it said 160 but that wwas the outside temp of the hose.

I have driven many of these trucks. It looks like normal temp to me. It is reading about 190.
                    rides:
00 Yukon xl with butt warmers.
1986 fox body vert. that never gets driven

If the thermostat is working, it is not opening until 195 or so.

I am positive the engine is getting up to normal temp, but I was hoping somebodyy had similar truck to compare the gauges.

The heat blows hot enough to maake a sweat lodge in the cab. I am just wondering if the "computer" thinks the engine isn't hot enough and causing bad gas mileage.

My 93' suburban used to do the same thing. Coolant temp was 197* while the gauge read like 170-180*. Its normal.
