Posting to help out a friend. Owner of the Jeep has a teenage son who recently got into a parking lot bump that barely damaged the front bumper. Soon after it developed some wierd interior lighting issues and without access to a wiring diagram I'm hoping somone here with the resources can help us out....
The center stack backlighting is on all the time with the engine running... as if the headlamps where on. They go out when the key is removed. Also, the footwell lighting up front and the cargo light in the back is on at all times. All interior lighting switches have no effect. It's as if the car thinks the doors are open....but there is no door ajar light in the cluster. If any door is opened, however, the door ajar light will illuminate and all interior lights work "normally".
Sounds like something is shorted to power or there is a relay stuck on. We haven't tried just pulling fuses and/or relays because that isn't going to tell me shit without the ability to associate the relays with what they power. I need either a) a copy of the interior lighting section of the wiring diagram or b) someone who has access to the diagram and would be kind enough to describe any likely causes.
