2006 Mercury Mariner

A friend was driving to work and the transmission slipped at around 20mph and again at around 40mph. She noticed the OD light was flashing at that point as well - she has parked the vehicle and is driving another - is the transmission shot?

It's got the 3.0 V-6 and ~120K on it. She was told around 3K to replace the transmission -

any thoughts?

Pretty sure that's a CD4E and I don't know much about it.... It uses a band for 2 and 4 and I remember some issues with the servo and the band itself. Sounds like a 2/4 band issue to me.

Probably Stripped the teeth off of the input shaft.
Lost pressure, and OD light flashed.

Like stated above, pull the codes, but your looking at a rebuild.

I suggest Master Transmission in Rosemount, but i also know that you know a local place.

check fluid level, have seen the coolers on these leak enough to cause trans issues due to low fluid.
