Code Reader for 2002 VW

Can anyone pull the codes out of my VW? Got a check engine light this morning and need to find out what it is.

I do, otherwise any automotive parts store (O 'Reilly's, Autozone, etc) should be willing & able to scan for free.

O'reilly's does not scan your car for free... you must rent the scanner($250 or so) and then return it for full credit back

midwest motorworks in hudson will scan it with a vagcom not a generic scanner that won't tell you shit in a VW

I can't speak for other auto parts places, but at Pep Boys you drive the car into the shop and we'll scan the code for you and clear it free of charge.

I have gone in to O 'Reilly's MANY MANY times and scanned it for free.... Also Autozone...
