    trailer wiring a vehicle

So I have to wire a vehicle for a trailer, just a 4 pin connector job. The vehicle has separate turn signals from brake lights, which is what's kind of throwing me off. How do I go about doing this?
I found something like this link, does that little converter box pictured take care of the problem? I should just see what fleet farm has.

It's a 2000 Mercedes ml55. There is 2 plug connectors at the rear for trailer wiring that I can get the signals from, I have all the wiring diagrams. The oem trailer wiring kit used some sort of box plugged into these connectors... but the trailer kits are now discontinued from the manufacturer.

Just wondering if anyone has done trailer wiring for a car with independent turn/brake bulbs.

I've seen these on a few Audis, BMWs, and MBs. Throw away the scotch-locks and solder/shrink tube instead.

I've seen them with the 4 pin connector just scabbed onto the rear light harness, some of those turds will start throwing out warning messages about a bulb failure in the rear.

Thanks! that one looks like it is better quality than the one I found.

I think Napa carries them, and i'm other local hitch/truck suppliers have them too.

I get a napa discount so I'll give them a call for sure.

Used many of those kits before and yes they works excellent, otherwise if you just stab directly into the oem taillight harness it creates to big of a current draw.

Scotchlocks are only good in emergency situations. I typically use heat shrink butt connectors.

I set up a Saturn something for flat towing behind a Class A last year. Pretty sure I just "scabbed" the 4 pin right into the vehicles rear taillight harness. Soldered everything nice and clean, had no problems. Setting up vac assist "trailer brakes" in the SUV was a pain in the ass...
