    Need keyless entry/ alarm recommendations?

The factory alarm & keyless entry went to crap on my Jetta (been through 2 of them). So I am looking for an aftermarket replacement, hopefully one I can pick up at a retail establishment in the cities. I don't need top of the line, the alarm function is only because I have yet to find a keyless entry only device.

I am going to install it so I don't need a recommendation on that. I would like one with separate lock and unlock buttons along with trunk would be nice.

I would also consider a remote start unit with keyless but the car is a stick so I will only be using it for the keyless.

Call Todd at Track Time Motorsports. He usually has several models available.

He does have remote starts for manual transmissions, too. There is one installed in his Honda and it works pretty slick.

I just put one of these in our '96 Jimmy. http://cgi.ebay.com/Avital-AviStart-...item2eb096b298

      Very easy to install.

I would go with a keyless entry/remote start. Remote start is so nice.

I bought a python 1401 remote start from Amazon. I am hoping this one installs easier than some I have done in the past. I am just going to gut the factory module and that is where most of the connections will be made. This should make the wife happy for a day or two.

I've installed a few Code systems and never seen any issues with them that weren't worksmanship (install) related. The more functional you make it, the more difficult the install.

The one I have can be programmed as a remote start, alarm, entry, windows and a few aux. The reciever is relatively small has a 1500 ft range and a digital display with individual buttons.

                1up for code

U didn't see the other thread.

I like the viper brand of alarms, I'd say 5701 or baller up and get the 5901.
