    8.8 girdle

    so I'm going to pick up my rebuilt 8.8 tomorrow and wondering what preload to set the girdle studs at when the time comes?

    i was thinking 1/4-1/2 turn past touching the bearing cap but wanna know what other people are running there's at?

        I was going to weld the axle tubes for you also but couldn't find a tube of JB Weld to save my life.

                  I would have to look at my LPW cover instructions but it's either 10 in/lbs or 10 ft/lbs. I believe it's 10 in/lbs. though. I don't recall tightening the bolts very much though, so I think it's 10 in/lbs.
                  8.54 @ 159 mph on a 275 drag radial
                  5.43 @ 127 mph to the 1/8
                  8.91 @ 153 in True Street legal trim
                  Best 60' at Top End Dragways 1.22 on 275's

                    Mines set a 10 ft lbs. The Instructions I got with mine said 10-12ft lbs.

                            That's probably right. I remember it being a lot lower than I thought it would be.
