    removing wax from plastic trim/moldings?

Textured trim with wax/buffer marks. I tried WD-40 and a rag but it's still visible. I have read to use peanut oil or even creamy peanut butter or even toothpaste and a brush. I think I'm going to try soapy water and a tooth brush first.

    Any sure fire solutions?

    3M Wax/adhesive remover.
Is absolutely sure-fire. The rag however will be un-useable for anything else afterwards.

After that use Turtle wax ICE detail spray around the trim AND over it. No white residue.

Where is this 3M product sold at? I can never seem to find a full line of 3M products any where, just a few random ones at various places....

The 3M stuff should work. If you want to try something before going out and buying new stuff, try something like Simple Green or Purple Power with a small, stiff brush. Make sure to clean it up quickly and protect the area again. Don't use the brush on the smooth, painted areas. If you have to get crud out of emblems try a Q-tip or a microfiber wrapped around a popsicle stick.

BTW, Zaino polishes do not stain trim, leave a residue, or make much dust.

3M stuff is usually at NAPA or the Carquest paint stores. I think the Elk River NAPA has a lot of body shop stuff and the Carquest in Anoka has body shop stuff (just northwest of the Vo-tech).

If you want Zaino, let me know.

Oops Sorry Randy... I had leftover ICE and was just using it the other day before getting rid of the truck... first thing I thought of.

I'll 2nd it, the Zaino Z-8 product works great for the over trim too.
The Z-AIO and Z-PC DO leave some white/green residue on the rough vinyl trim. However, unlike most waxes, you CAN easily buff it out of the trim if you rub at it for a bit. Could be the quantity of Zaino product I use though too, I easily use 2x the recommended amount. But you can't argue with the results

a stiff detail brush/ paint brush is key. Use that with any number of the products mentioned, and you should be set.
Welle Auto Supply carries 3M stuff also.

Well after going to Napa in Elk River and Carquest in Anoka, I was not able to find any 3M wax/adhesive remover OR and 3M bug and tar remover. They both ahd a couple of 3M products but not the ones I was looking for. Seems as if the few places that do have the 3M stuff only have some misc. ones. End rant.

Anyway, I bought some Simple Green and used that with a toothbrush on the textured wheel well moldings on my truck. It worked great and they are now wax free! I have also found that WD-40 works pretty good for removing tar....which I bought some more of too...especially since I can't find that damn 3M stuff any where.

(Put something on the moldings, as the SG will strip any protection off)

Clean a little detailing tip that I like to do is , get some 2" wide masking tape and mask off ur wheel moldings or anything else you dont want to accidently get wax on. That is what I do. You can go faster because you dont have to pay attention as much. Or get Zaino. It doesnt leave white on moldings.
It is a damn poor mind indeed which can't think of at least two ways to spell any word.

Ya I know, I had already thought of that. But when it came time to do it, I didn't.

elbow grease has always worked for me.

also for future, use some masking tape on shit you don't want over-waxed, dummy.
