    Clay bar? liquid clay bar?

anyone familiar with this stuff? ive heard it works great i bought the liquid stuff but am too much of a puss to use it after i read the instructions.....at the end it says to use some polish, which leads me to believe that it works like a rubbing compound. --so being a novice i don't wanna end up with a dull finish that i cant fix...

I've used a regular clay bar, not the liquid stuff though. With the regular clay bar it's really hard to mess up the finish unless you drop the clay bar on the ground and pick up some sand and grind it into the finish.

I have alot of experience using the real clay bars, never used the liquid stuff. Its hard to mess it up, just use clean rags and use plenty of quick detailer to lubricate the clay.

If the paint is dulling on your vehicle, the clay wont make the paint shine again, but it removes the particles that are embedded on your paint and will make polishing and waxing much easier and more effective. Your paint will shine better, with less effort in the end.

3 step polish, an orbital buffer (with foam pads, if a n00b) and time. Will look like new again in a half-days work.

Clay bars were developed for removing rail dust from paint. A common problem with white/light colored cars. Basically when transported by rail the metal on metal of wheels and track make a dust of steel slivers that stick in the paint. After time they would form small rust rings in the paint (rust specs) It is also used now to remove contamination not able to be seen by the human eye and over spray.

Nothing works as well a high speed buffer and multi step polish for bringing back a finish.

Suggestion - Go to Meguairs On line forum. There is alot of info on the how to's of using a clay bar. Over all what it is supposed to do is remove blemishes in the paint. You do have to follow up with polishing and waxing.

Looks like you have a pretty sweet car. We'll probably have to run 'em.

If your gonna use a buffing compound, i have had good luck with this on my truck

This is the less aggressive compound.
