Wider tires for stock rims on stock height 2004 GT

What is the widest tire I can mount on the stock rims of a stock height 2004 Mustang GT?

I want the same diameter so my speedo stays accurate. It currrently has 245-45-17 tires on the polished rims.

275/40r17 is the widest you should go on an 8 inch rim.

What would a front end alignment cost for the 04 Stang? The fronts seem to wear a little more on the outside edges and wider tires will probably make it worse.
