My favorite AMSOIL product...and it's not motor oil!

My favorite AMSOIL product by far is the Heavy Duty Metal Protector

I use that stuff on everything. It's a great bike chain lube (both bicycles and motorcycles), keeps my locks lubricated in the winter, keeps my hinges from squeeking (on both my car and my house hinges), lubed the track to my garage door.

Basically the stuff is WD-40 on steroids. However, the big difference is AMSOIL's Heavy Duty Metal Protector dries to a wax like film. So it doesn't collect dirt or dust.

So yes, AMSOIL does make more than just oil and some of the products rock.

I never used JB80. I've been using AMSOIL's Heavy Duty Metal Protector for about six years.

From the looks of it JB80 looks like it's also marketed as a penetrating oil. AMSOIL's product is not. It's thick and heavy duty! AMSOIL does have a thinner product which is just the regular metal protector. I'm sure that's more comparable to JB80. AMSOIL's Metal Protector is the regular stuff.

How does it compare as a bicycle chain lube to White Lightning?

          I've never used White Lightning.

Once I discovered this product there was no reason to use anything else.

              LOL.

That basically sums up most AMSOIL's dealers approach to selling AMSOIL. I can't stand those guys.

Amsoil 100:1 totally ruined one of my RC plane engine's bearings. I only had used it for 80 hours, before the roller bearing let go. DURING A COMPETETION!! 100:1 is too thin and is commonly now advised against in the RC community. Amsoil also left a ton of coking in the cylinders also. Dominator at 50:1 leaves nothing but a snotty sluge trail from the pipes. Been VERY happy with Stihl Ultra HP 50:1.
Not arguing with anyone, but Amsoil is NOT the best. Nothing better in the race quad than the 10w40.
I listened to the local rep(who would sniff the Amsoil CEO's underwear if there were a chance) and the guy blows smoke to make a sale.

I bolded the important part there. Listen to the community of people with experience. When in doubt go a little bit more rich.

1:100 doesn't work in all applications.

                    AMSOIL even states this:
AMSOIL Saber 100:1 2-Cycle Oil is recommended for 100:1 mix ratios in normal service. Richer mix ratios may be used where desired.

I've been using the Interceptor oil in my 2007 and 2005 Polaris sleds with no issues. I also love the way it smells coming out the exhaust.

Dan, can you PM me a price on Interceptor gallons? Thanks.

                          AMSOIL even states this:
The RC community WAS on a trend of Amsoil only. Until a ton of people started having problems. The manufacturer of my engine recommended the 100:1. As stated in the manual. I was told by Amsoil that the plane engines are not included in severe use. My cylinder head temps only see at most 220* when hovering, so I tried it. Been flying RC for years and it was one of the only trends I will never follow again.
I was running the Dominator at 50:1. The engine for my purpose does not get hot enough to burn the oil, thus resulting in a mess of sludge.

Okay, so you took a 50:1 oil, and mixed it 100:1 and then blame AMSOIL.

AMSOIL doesn't work in all applications, no oil does. But you can't blame AMSOIL for that mistake.

Where did I say I ran Dominator at 100:1? As per the last post, I was running Dominator at 50:1. Saber at 100:1. Saber 100:1 is what killed it.
The manufacturer of my engine does NOT recommend Amsoil anymore. They actually now specify not to use it.
