    S&W M&P15 Sport?

Anyone see the $599 S&W M&P15 Sport Cabela's has on sale in their most recent flyer?

That's a fair price. A couple of weeks ago they had another ar for $599, but it was a composite upper receiver.

You may want to know that its not exactly mil-spec. I guess it depends on how much you care. It doesn't have a chrome-lined barrel, no forward assist, and no bolt cover. They were sold out in about 2 hours in Rogers (about 50 of them). They are offering rain checks if you go in and ask though.

Id rather have a nice AK if thats all the money you want to spend. If you buy a AR don't buy the bottom of the barrel...

Please explain why Mil-Spec matters to the sport/hunting crowd. Just asking not trying to be a smart ass.
                  Progress. Should be fun.

Didn't say it does or it doesn't. I was merely stating a matter of fact some that might be interested it MIGHT care about. Is it really going to matter much? Probably not to me but it might save someone the trip if they were more determined to get the options that I mentioned were missing.

The barrel isn't chrome-lined, but it has their special coating or whatever it is that is harder than chrome and doesn't affect accuracy.

I'd still prefer a bolt cover, but a forward assist shouldn't matter to most people. Chances are if you have to use the forward assist you really should clear that round and chamber another.

But at least S&W is trying to remove a few features that some people don't care about or would never use anyway and bring a lower priced gun to the market.

I don't have a dust cover or forward assist on my dpms. I'm happy with it.

Like I said, some might not care and others won't. I was just giving a heads-up to those that might

They're not my cup of tea either.

Decent entry-level cheap gun to encourage people to drink the AR kool-aid though.
