Been a while since I've had science class... but wouldn't rapidly dropping the temperature inside the tank cause the air pressure to drop and cause that? You stay classy Chet Beireis

i've seen this before, well aftermath of something like this on a rail car. there is a tank car on our working tracks down by the i35 bridge that is sucked in like a pop can. i've seen pictures of a rail cars sucked in right off the wheels. It usually happens because a shop will steam clean the interiors (which are specially lined) and if the tank is sealed and the steam cools down it creates a massive vaccuum. Expensive mistake seeing how most tank cars cost $250-$300,000 new. Even more for all stainless tanks that hold acids.
Breathing new life, back in to me

Dear Government, eventually the people with money will tell you to fuck off, and stop paying for those that don't work

Yup, whats happening it the steam condenses into water. Once it starts, it happens really quickly.
Anyone can do this with a pop can. Put a little bit of water inside the can(<1/8 full). Put it over heat and get the water a-boilin. Boil for ~1minute so it fills with steam. Remove can from heat(use appropriate handling measures) and flip it over in a small bowl or something like that which has just enough water to cover the lip of the can. Step away and watch.
