Team Lemonparty has a new ride for the 2009 LeMons race

Went out and looked at a car today for our team to race in the 2009 24 Hours of LeMons.

Car was advertised as $500 or best offer....when I talked to the guy over the phone he made sure to say "Oh, and just so you know I'm VERY flexible on the price" (score!).

Went out into the middle of B.F.E. Minnesota with most of the team and checked it out....Our jaws dropped after seeing it, and after I whipped it around the block I knew it had to be ours.

$200.00 later it was!

1982 BMW 320i
RWD
5 Speed
Engine puuuuuuurs like a kitten, not a single tick or issue along it's 100 mile drive home.
Suspension is awesome, except it needs to be lowered.
Brakes are awesome
Body has zero rust (it came from Cali)
Interior is already stripped completely except for the dashboard and 2 leather seats in near mint condtion.

Anyone interested in being a backup driver or wrencher sometime in 2009? We already have 4 drivers but it would be nice to have a spare who also knows how to turn a wrench. The dates won't be released for a while so I have no idea where we are racing or when.

Yeah, but we decided to make it more colorful so our sponsors stand out more. We are going to be painting it bright yellow, the BMW colors of mainly white with a red/white/blue stripe. Or if I can find a good price on it, some digital camo vinyl.

Brooklyn Park. But we may be moving to a loft downtown so I'm not sure exactly where we would be working on it. One driver lives on 35E near 94 and the other lives in St Paul Park but may be moving soon.

There won't be a lot of working on it before the race as it really doesn't need anything (unless you can weld a cage in). But at the race who knows what will grenade or get smashed to bits.

I just hope they have a midwest race in 09 and it's in the earlier part of the year as the later in the year it gets the higher my chance of being sent to Iraq.

I've been browsing CL for months....probably at least an hour a day.

Most people want $3,000 for their 1985 Ford Escort with 300,000 miles on it, a bad clutch, only reverse working a blown engine and with only 1% of the body being rust free....Minnesota is especially bad since every old car is rusty.

I was honestly planning on buying a lemon down near San Antonio and praying to god it survives a drive back to Minnesota....I'm thanking the Lord that didn't happen!
