Back in the 90's into the early 00's they ran GM V6's in ASA cars. (they're back to V8's now) GM produced that engine block specifically for the ASA cars and was never sold to the public in a production vehicle. I believe it's based off the 4.3 liter V6 with a few differences but I'm not 100% sure. (I'm a drag race guy) In 2000 that engine was probably worth in the neighborhood of $16K. Now before anyone says it.... I can already hear it now...... "I would never pay that much for a V6" OR "I wouldn't give you 2 cents for that engine" OR "It's a GM, why would anyone want that thing" etc, etc.

I AGREE!!!! But that doesn't change the fact that SOME people DID pay that much for a V6 back then..... not me!!!

Yep 505 out of a v6. I believe the displacement was 4.3. And no its not anything like the 4.3 in todays trucks.

When they finally went back to the V8's in the early 00's, the V6 stuff suddenly became unusable and obsolete so there has to be a shit pile of this stuff sitting on peoples shelves around the country.

that's crazy, although not that hard to believe... the nascar motors pushing 750hp n/a is probably about the same amt of power - just shy of 100hp per cylinder...

i've yet to see an n/a 4 banger making 375hp... that'd be interesting

375 would be a bit of a stretch, however the world challenge Dodge Stratus cars were 2.0 DOHCs rumored to have from very reliable sources over 300hp.
That and $25,000 sequintial 6 speed transmissions.

If I remember correctly the v6 was also used in trans am racing. I think you could use a v6 and run your car lighter or a v8 with more weight. Not sure would have to ask my boss.
