    World's Largest Container Ship

The ship is named Emma Maersk. She is the World's largest container ship, and as of 2007... the longest ship in use.

The command bridge is higher than a 10 store building and has 11 rigs that can operate simultaneously.

    Additional info

    Country of origin: Denmark

    Length: 1,302 ft

    Width: 207 ft

    Net cargo: 123,200 tons

Engine: Powered by a Wärtsilä-Sulzer RTA96-C diesel, currently the world's largest single diesel unit, weighing 2,300 tons and capable of 110,000 horsepower. Plus 40,000 more hp from five Caterpillar 8M32 engines.

Cruise Speed: More than 25.5 knots (31 mi/h)

    Cargo capacity: between 13,500 - 14,500 TEU (1 TEU = 20 ft3 container)

Crew: The ship has accommodations for 30 people, though the normal crew is only 13, as it were the first trip - Sept. 08, 2006

    Construction cost: US $145,000,000+

Silicone painting applied to the ship bottom reduces water resistance and saves 317,000 gallons of diesel per year.

She also has a sister ship - The Estelle Maersk

The motors probably make more than 1 million ft/lbs at 200rpms or some crap like that.

Damn cool how they moved the differant sections to get them together and welded.
It is a damn poor mind indeed which can't think of at least two ways to spell any word.

did you see it goes 25.5 knots, 31+mph!!!!!!!!

Theres not many ports in the world that will accomadate that ship.

It probably draws over 70 feet when loaded.
