My boss owns an albatross. I work in the Ankoka County Airport and we have one in the hangar. Its a sweet airplane. Flown in it a couple times, dropped into lake minnetonka. Large wingspan, very rough ride.

I want one extremely bad. Unfortuantly, I dont have $500,000+ dollars to blow on one. It would be the perfect outdoor adventure/fishing/going down to cancun and getting hammered platform

Buy a karavan. Not as big, but faster and WAY more reliable. Probably more money too.

Hmmm havent looked into those. The reason I want an albatross is one of my dads friends in Key West had one, and when I was little I flew on it a couple of times. I fell in love with it as soon as he let me sit in the pilots seat.

I'm guessing a Caravan on floats goes for about 2 mil.

I'd be happy with a Cessna 185 with a STOL kit on amphibs. Hell..even just on wheels. Grew up flying the 180 and 185 with my dad. A 185 is kinda like having a flying 3/4-ton pickup with a stroked big-block. It weighs 1,687 lbs empty & carries 1,663 lbs of payload, so that is 3,350 lbs gross with 300 HP on tap. 179 MPH top speed, 165 MPH cruise & 30 MPH landings with full STOL engaged. Can work from 500-foot strips with a light load. 700-foot take-offs full-up
                    It's all about the boost....

                    '87 Buick Grand National, "tweaked"
                    Best 1/4 mile: 11.97 @ 115 MPH
                    Best 0-60 MPH: 3.6 seconds

That's low time airframe. Not bad.

Give me Cessna 182RG and I'd be happy.

I flew in a 185 with my dad for a couple of years until he upgraded to a super viking. The whole bigass flying boat thing has always really interested me though, and some of the interior modifications they do to the albatrosses are insane

I got my Seaplane rating 10 years ago. The whole rating took me 4.7 hours including checkride. I've flown once since then in a floatplane for another hour. Total Seaplane time is 5.7 hours.
