KC2K12 - turbo V8 land, unless you are a supra. Mustang/Fbody meet
what do you know about the texas mile? OH wait you have the internet, turns out you think you know a lot.
You think you're going to run with 1000hp fully dedicated race cars with 700whp? Maybe on a crotch rocket. Texas isn't the little leagues. You're talking about most the cars down there in the 200+ mph range

why do they have to be adjusted so much? there are lots of vehicles from the factory with solid lifters that don't need to be adjusted every 15k or so. that's like 15 turbo engines worth of miles.

Isn't Ford claiming 200mph with the 650 Shelby? I know they hit 196 on the track at 2000ft elevation. Take that down to sea level aka TX and it seems reasonable. That car put down 662hp at the wheels stock. Just saying.........700 should hit 200mph.
Dodge hit back in 1969 without 700hp in a stock car. 210mph.

Again, because you have the internet doesn't mean you know anything. I pitted for a DSM that was only making 700whp at the time and we clocked 19x most of the weekend.
This isn't some petty street race against 13sec cars that think they are the shit, also its just a run for speed so even if you took your POS out there you would be doing it, but I know I'd want enough power to actually pull thru the top gear in the vehicle I took down there.

I am friends with a lot of people that run Texas and Ohio, It's not power that takes you down the track.. you think going 200+ mph in a car is easy go down there and try it. When you spill the beans or something flys off or you're scattered across the side of the road.. I'd say I told you so.

What takes you down the track oh wise one? Is there anything you don't know?

Gearing, suspension, stabalization to the unibody in your case (full cage) aerodynamic testing to make sure you don't get a draft under the car and pick up lift which is what will take your ass out going that fast. Make sure you're not leaking anything by testing and testing and testing. Ask Sloss what it takes to take a pass safely down there, hell Dan's been going for years trying to get his car ready for it. Look at the salt flats as a good spot to test, it's not a road that you're going to spin on. You should see the work they had to do on the Neon SRT-4 to get it up to snuff to run the flats or mile. I don't know everything or have all the answers.. but I have a good idea of what you need to do to safely run it. Watch some of the videos of people thinking it's just smashing the gas. 1/4 mile's not even a valid test for keeping a speed for over a mile.. Having too much downforce will slow you down, it's all about testing.
