Don't quote me on this, but I think that's part of the police code; can't initiate (rough) physical contact unless they're physically violent or some shit like that. dragging them off would have been just that and it would have been viewed way worse, and they would have likely gotten sued for broken/dislocated limbs...

I do like that he's using a fire extinguisher sized pepper spray thing... All the sprays I've ever seen were the kind you can pretty much conceal in your fist.

It is procedure to use OC spray now when dealing with protesters. When they are arm in arm forming what they call a "peace chain" police used to walk up behind a protester and apply a few different pressure points to get them to release their arms. Now that's frowned upon and they are suppose to use spray before getting physical.

The spray sucks ass, I've had a first hand experience, but it goes away after an hour or two and doesn't do any damage. Cry me a river, build me a bridge and get over it.
