Ford Edge Ecoboost edition - first review

I think Ford is hitting on all cylinders with their product development - even if the cylinder count has been reduced.

I assume you have to run premium in this and not the V6 version. Looking at the EPA highway numbers, it'll save you $0.004 per mile(based on $3 regular and $3.20 premium, and 27mpg V6 and 30mpg eco). Assuming a 15K mile per year average, that's a wopping $60 savings every year.

This is just highway numbers mind you.

Am I way off base on this?

Don't get me wrong, I think they are on to something, but when you publish just mileage numbers without (likely) adding the additional cost of premium fuel, it's not a fair fight.

So far, all Ecoboost engines deliver their advertised HP on REGULAR FUEL.

I would love to see an ecoboost Ranger - if that heavy CUV can net ~30mpg what could a Ranger grab?

If you build it, they will come....

But seriously, you are more likely to eventually see a "ranger like" Pickup powered by a small turbo diesel than the gasoline equivalent ecoboost model
