So what's the story on labor then? They didn't allow you enough time to get 'em done?
.5 for NA motors and .8 for supercharged. There are several different design 3800s involved. Depending on which design upper motor mounts and shit are on the motor you can get screwed, hard.
Here's an example.. Did a '04 grandprix with NA motor yesterday. Waranty time is 1.0, customer pay time is 1.4. Under the recall I got .5 and did more work than a standard valve cover replacement. I can tell you this. There will be a shit load of techs out there saying fuck it and throwing the parts away without doing the recall. Happens every time they gouge the shit out of labor times.
'04 GP, so series 3 then. Based on what you're saying, everyone must be getting F'd over and I would think some techs in turn will cut any corner they can on the install to try and get it in and out. The ones that don't go the full 'fuck it' route at least.
What's happening with the old valve covers after they get replaced w/the new black one?

That was for the engine covers.. I'm talking about the valve covers. Or are you saying (which you didn't specify) that the valve covers as well are being stacked up in case they have to be sent back..

You didn't say "engine" covers before... Those are thrown away. Valve covers are saved and returned or thrown away later.
