I figure every day I ride my bike to work I will save about $10 in gas alone, plus get exercise... just me being bi-winning
I thought about doing this also, I only live 5 miles from work. Just need a bike.

I'm actually pretty excited to start doing this. The trail I live on goes to within .5 miles from my work. A big ftw. No reason not to bike to work.

with the $10 you're saving by riding your bike to work, maybe you could apply that to finishing your baseboard

                Nice.

I've actually tossed around the idea of picking up a cx bike to do some mixed gravel/paved road riding, just to give it an honest shot, but I just haven't been able to bring myself to actually buy something with drop bars.

I like your bike. If I were to get a road bike, it would probably be one just like that.

It is actually a cx bike.. I'm going to get some road tires for it though.

1mrtoy, I highly doubt that will happen.

LOL I'm sorry. This goes to show how much I know about drop bar bikes. Maybe that's why I was thinking it was damn sexy for a road bike haha.

I don't know a ton about bikes in general. I just ride them around, slowly.

There isn't a ton of difference, the main one is the cx bikes have wider forks, rear frame, cantilever brakes, all to allow for wider tires. Some also have an additional set of brake levers, like a standard mtn bike lever on the main bar.. mine does not. And they have mounts for racks and fenders, I will most likely put a rack on it. :/

There may be some frame geometry differences also, I'm no expert either.

Looks like a bunch of grab ass going on in here..

Grog if you want a decent mountain bike to just get out on once in awhile and don't want to spend a fortune send me a PM. I have a GT BACKWOODS I would sell cheap. All aluminum , front suspension bike. 20" frame.

It is a damn poor mind indeed which can't think of at least two ways to spell any word.
