I could honestly use a document that says that.

I know this was brought up just recently, but what do have to do exactly to get something like that? Get an eye exam and have a doctor write up the need for dark tint?

I wear glasses and go to in for a visit every year. I told her I am wearing my tinted attachement for my glasses all the time outside and have light sensitivity. I told her my windows are tinted on all of my vehicles and I read the law on window tint is changing Aug 1st and would like some sort of signed form for my tint as it helps my eyes.

She went into the next room and came back with a signed prescription
This will be a yearly renewal from here on out.

Well I don't wear glasses, but my cornea's are scratched and my eyes are sensitive to light..

So the prescription itself is just the signed paper?

i would request atleast 10%, 35% is weak.

Just remember, 35% light transmission really means you can only have 50% still.

Because most 35% films will meter 28% to 32% on glass.



Were you driving west on 13 or 169 today around noon? I can't remember which road I took home.


Siberian, I doubt a doctor would risk their license by prescribing something so dark.

I knew this would be easy to do.

my excuse for black windows would be AZ, TX or FL plates, Although this means you can have your front windshield tinted.

Same as the old law, but now it's illegal for ME to tint the windows.

Before it was just illegal to drive with windows darker than 50% net (+/- 3%).

Correct on the law. I used it as a topic starter towards the end of the eye exam.

I have no need for 10% or anything thing like that, I feel I am pushing it now with the caliber but if it really becomes a problem I will change the front windows. I didnt want to ask her for anything darker, didnt want to push the issue. I may talk about it in May next year when I go back.

The guy who has tinted my windows in the past meters them out, most of my vehicles drop the the % down about 7% or so.

My Ram is tinted with 35% and meters around 28.
He had some new stuff that he call it "27" as it tests around 27%, and on my Caliber it meters close to 22%. It is definitely darker than the 35% and 30% I have used in the past.

Technically I am still illegal, but this gives me a better chance than nothing.
My old ACR would have been legal, the Neon SRT4 would have been close. I have slowly gone darker over the years.

I have a feeling when you pull out a Rx for 35% and it meters lower you'll for sure get a ticket just so he can show you who's boss.


Some cops are just like that about tint. I had a customer get a ticket for 42%. I got two warnings for 42% (on my crown vic, I have a feeling it had more to do with driving an old cop car).

Agreed. A buddy of mine has had a few tint tickets and has gone into "fight it" and it has always been thrown out and he doesnt have an Rx.

I have had tinted windows on every vehicle that I kept/driven since I started driving 12/13 years ago. At least 14 different vehicles and have never been questioned/bothered with tint.

Figured I would just get a little something extra, however now I probably just jinxed myself.
