    2011 V6 Mustang 1000 lap Challenge 48mpg!!

New Mustang V6 got 48+ MPG during the Bristol 1000 lap challenge. They actually made it 1400+ laps and around 700+ miles on a tank of fuel. Awesome job Ford engineers! I think they will sell alot of these this year.

I didn't hear any mention of how fast they were driving...I wonder what mpg I'd get in my Expedition if I could run 40 to 50 continuously-no stops or start ups, just after it kicks into overdrive, loping along at 1500 rpm. Hell, it would probably be in the upper 20's. Then everyone would be going, "damn gotta run out and buy one of those economical SUV's".

Still, the EPA on road estimate is pretty damn good.

I thought about that... I wonder how the limited slip and traction control are in the winter... I know the newer ones have brake assisted traction control, not just the engine killing electronic stuff...

A set of snow tires and it will be king.

My wife drove her 08 year round without issue. Never was a day she needed to drive the truck to work because of the snow being to deep. No snow tires or sandbags either.

Those had open diffs and 100 less hp though, right? Or was this a GT?

It was the 300hp GT. The traction control was her friend

She only got stuck once in the driveway but that was because she was trying to back around another car and got into the snow bank. Other than that it did very well.
