Sony has told CVG that the majority of its major first-party games will be 3D in future - as the technology begins to seduce the mainstream.
The first 3D PS3 games - dubbed the 'stereoscopic collection' - arrive on PSN today. These include Wipeout HD and SuperStarDust HD - which have both retrofitted with 3D tech.
However, UK PlayStation boss Ray Maguire told CVG this morning that Sony's attention will soon turn to creating 3D iterations of its most famous franchises.
The first confirmed triple-A title will be Killzone 3 - which is set to arrive on shelves in 2011. Sony will show the game off at E3 next week.
Speaking in our exclusive interview, Maguire said that Sony's studios will now be expected to create more blockbusters in 3D - including God Of War.
When we asked if all of Sony's first-party 'Triple-A' titles will be developed in 3D in future, he replied:
"In time, yes. I think when you get to 2014 and beyond the majority of games will be 3D. You will be able to have backwards compatibility with 2D - as opposed to 3D being the exception."
Sony has suggested that 40 per cent of households will have adopted a 3D TV by 2014.
