The enigmatic group has yet to announce a follow-up to 2006's "10,000 Days," but lead singer Maynard James Keenan has already had a busy 2010. "Blood Into Wine," a documentary about Keenan's attempts to start a vineyard in the Arizona desert, enjoyed a brief theatrical run and will hit DVD this fall. Keenan also toured with his cabaret-style side project Puscifer and headlined two shows at the Pantages Theatre in April. Tool, meanwhile, has previously played the X in 2001, 2002 and 2007.
In other summer concert news, Chicago metal band Disturbed will headline the new Uproar Festival, which kicks off Aug. 17 at the Target Center. The traveling multiband festival will also feature Avenged Sevenfold, Stone Sour, Halestorm, Hellyeah, Airbourne, Hail the Villain and New Medicine. Further details will be announced soon, with tickets set to go on sale June 12.
Also, the Dead Weather will return to First Avenue July 28. The band, which features the White Stripes' Jack White on drums and vocals, will release their second album, "Sea of Cowards," next week. Tickets for the concert are $32 and will go on sale at 11 a.m. Friday through Ticketmaster. — Ross Raihala
Dear Government, eventually the people with money will tell you to fuck off, and stop paying for those that don't work
Last time they played the the X they were Fuckin Bomb!
Don't think Maynard ever came further out than halfway on the stage. Just sat in back behind it most of the show. Kinda Strange but what do you expect from him?
It's bad timing for the show. Sho and Go at BIR is that weekend and I'm heading up Wed night so no go for me this time a round.
