Toyota Corolla Power Steering Failures Reported

Toyota may be facing yet another safety investigation into one of its vehicles, the Automotive News is reporting.

According to the industry newspaper, the National Highway and Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) has recieved 83 complaints about the electric power steering systems of 2009-2010 model year Corollas. According to the publication, there have been 76 reported instances of the vehicles unexpectedly veering left or right at high speeds.

Six accidents and 10 injuries have been allegedly caused by the phenomenon.

A NHTSA spokesperson tells the publication that the agency is talking to Toyota about the reports and is "continuing to review and gather information to determine if it warrants a formal investigation."

I don't know that they're leading the way... Supposedly, Toyota got most pissed off at ABC about it, and pulled ads from a whole bunch of local affiliates, in 5 states in protest... I'll see if I can find the story.

I don't care for the whole conspiracy crowd... I think the media comes down hard on safety recalls on just about anything, not just cars. Nanny-state seems to have them all going out of their way for a story, no matter how big or small. Granted, this one hit something like 8 million cars as of late, but still... Is it a media frenzy? Yep. Is it some kinda conspiracy? Newp.

Funny enough, out of the manufacturers, it seems Nissan is the most aggressive out there, go figure. Not GM or Ford like you'd expect it...

The other day on CNN I heard some "expert" saying to keep an eye on your review mirror now for "runaway toyotas". He said if you see one rapidly approaching to pull over to the right.lol. Toyotas reputation is seriously being tarnished.
