need help from 99-04 stang owners

I am getting a little bit of water in my trunk during car washes, I think one of the high pressure ones knocked a rubber plug out on my trunk lid. Could somebody that owns a 99-04 mustang look at my picture and then look at their car and tell me if there is supposed to be something there?

I see a face in your trunk lid, with a funny white mustache.

I'd check the seal around the trunk before I checked a plug to keep it from rattling on the bumper. Is it on one specific side?

Please check and let me know, otherwise I will do as Dan the man said and replace the seal. The rubber seal is on tight all the way around, so I think it is this little hole. Never had problems with this before :idiot:

Neither one of my '03 Cobra's have anything in that hole. I'm fairly certain that's the drain hole from the spoiler/trunklid's inside...

Is it leaking only on one side or both or where?

Unless the car was damaged or the seal was torn I doubt its the weatherstrip. Crawl in the trunk with a flashlight and have a friend run a hose over the decklid and watch where its coming in.

I hate water leaks. Tore the interior out of my 88 because of the damn sunroof. Replaced all weather stripping and still leaks. Even used 3M stuff at the seams and no luck. I wish I could find someone willing to swap a non sunroof roof skin on my car, I would pay the price in a heart beat.

finding a non-sunroof skin and removing it without doing damage is the only hard part. Skins are easy to replace.

                              Water leaks do suck!

My dad had a 03 VW golf and it leaked CRAZY!! If it sat outside during a rainstorm it would get like two inches in the spare tire well.

But back to my car, I have all the trunk carpet out, and I cant see anything that might make it leak. I am kind of leaning towards the taillight gasket now.
