So the lamp in my Mitsubishi DLP went out just before xmas. Ordered a new one, decided not to mess with it till I got back from AZ as it came in 2 days before I had to leave. I tried to put it in now, tv still not working - either I can't change a fucking lightbulb or something else is messed up with the tv. The old lamp does look blown up - glass shards inside - while the new one can't be tested with a multimeter, so I can't be sure of it either.
I start reading the horror stories about prices to fix the damn DLPs, especially mitsubishi's, I get even more pissed as I remember the bullshit I went through with mine - it has a 1080p sticker on it, yet the tv is not 1080p capable, can only take 1080i signal and upconvert it - and decide fuck it, time to write off the losses and get a new tv.
I do my research find a samsung 50" plasma at sears/bestbuy that seemed like a decent deal and that I could pick up locally, and decide to have best buy price match sears and use their no payment/no interest until my taxes come in. I haven't had a balance on my BB card in at least 2-3 years, and last time I checked it, it was a 5k limit. I go to the store, find the tv, go to pay, i get denied b/c my limit has been slashed to 1k. I tell the guy to put the tv back, go to customer service, tell them to close my account. They ask me why and the chick looks offended when I tell her I've never had a late payment or anything and yet they decided to lower my credit limit. There was no reason for them to lower it - though I have heard of limits getting slashed if you don't use em. Fuck best buy. Fuck Mitsubishi too.
So feel free to suggest TVs in the 1-2k range; the bigger the better as it's gonna replace a 62". Can't be DLP or mitsubishi, and can't be at best buy. I might still pick up the samsung at Sears, though I can probably get it cheaper online.
