Here's a viscosity chart for a few oils I made.

As you can see, AMSOIL beat Mobil1 for cold flow, beats the group III Pennzoil Platinum, and devastates the token conventional oil from Valvoline.

remember the old wifes tale about that?

It was actually they made the seals leak when you went back to conventional. (a lot has changed since then)

Yeah, there's a lot of misinformation going around about synthetics.

The leak thing is a half truth. Switching to synthetic on an older engine can cause leaks that are currently present, but clogged with deposits, to start leaking because the synthetic will clean out the clog.

So it didn't "cause" a leak, but it can expose a clogged leak because it cleans.

Well if you walk into an auto parts store you will spend almost 50 bucks in product with filter. So people are suppose to do it for free for you? Quit being a poor broke fgt.

                        1. Just checking on Oreilly's web site. Mobil 1 Synthetic $6.99 a quart. Middle of the road priced oil filter is $7.00. Lets do the math. 6.99x6=41.94+7.00 (filter)=48.94 Add tax and thats over 50 bucks. Plus you spend an hour doing it. Then take the oil and filter somewhere to get rid of it. Like I said you must think people work for free.

                        2. Wow you have 20's and hoe bags at your apt. Good for you. Most car guys I know call them selves poor and broke due to the fact that they have family's and houses that take priority over there toys.

i had a brand new crate motor. everything was new. not a used part on it. all gm parts. synthetic mobil 1 10w30 . leaked from valve covers and oil pan.had huge amounts of pressure in the crankcase. pcv system was fully functional and hooked up correctly. both valve covers also had breathers. it was so excessive it would push the dipstick out under high rpm decell. put in 10-30 conventional magically all leaks gone. crankcase pressure is fine
