    DVD Players

My DVD player is about to take a shit on me. It's about 9 years old.

Rectumend me a good one. I have heard that there are DVD players that simulate HD?

    That what they're called?

I'm not getting Bluray and starting over my collection.

Why not turn your computer into an htpc?

As far as the simulation thing, I think they call that "upconvert".

You can still play regular DVDs in a Blue Ray Player. Get a Blue Ray especially if you owned a DVD player for 9 years, I'd imagine in just a few years everything will be Blue Ray.

I have an expenisve Denon DVD player that does up conversion and has an HDMI output. Plays DVD-A and SACD. Was like $390 or something new.

I also have an up converting Sony that was like $299 new. Several years old now, yet works great.

If you are interested in either, Id let either go for rather "cheap".

kick ass. looks like Sony for me.

And fuck Bluray. I am not starting my movie collection over to get a nicer picture and sound. Going from VHS to DVD is enough for me. Plus, I do not plan on buying a LCD or Plasma anytime soon if ever. I do not watch enough TV, or movies justify that expense.

And I'm not going to make an HTPC. Then I have to buy/build another computer, and install the OS and all that shit. Pass.
