okay here is the deal, I'm looking for opinions and general advice. I have a good job where I make good money and I'm basically looking for partime work to earn extra money for car parts etc. Well I get offered a job as a lube/tires/etc tech at a smaller sears auto shop for min wage plus commision but he said he would get the company to help with schooling etc. keep in mind mininum wage is 5.25 per hour for a small employer. I worked at ford like three years ago as a general service tech making like 12 an hour and extra spiffs for filters tires etc. Is this unreasonable to offer this wage even with the schooling help. I know shops and employers are hurting but most wages for these positions have dwindled to virtually nothing. any advice/input. Thanks

When I worked at sears auto back in the day I think thats what i got paid. It worked out with commissions though to around $11-13 per hour. So unless your a fat lazy pile of fuck its not that bad.

I got a job working Saturdays and Sundays at Sports Authority because I wanted to buy new skies and ski gear. I am happy I got a job not in my monday to friday job field. Almost feels like I am not working 7 days. Plus I really dont care about the job so I just show up and get paid.

Interesting that they are only offering $5.25 an hour. They must feel that they fall into the very narrow exemption.

I worked part time at a part store for like three years. It really wears on you having to go to work 6-7 days a week.

Punch him in the face, run away fast while screaming and turn back to fire bullets from your gun while still running in the opposite direction.

Do this and you should be fine.

I worked at Sears and NTB about 10 years ago. Worst fucking job I ever had. Pay was terrible and so were the assholes I worked with. We had one good tech who was still in high school and had a good work ethic. He worked circles around the older POS douche that was the head mechanic.

The managers, the sales people save one, the tire techs, the mech save one were all looser douchbags.

Run away fast!!
