    Dry skin. Neutralize chlorine?

long story short... St Paul City water... stinks of chlorine, really dry skin after washing hands/showering(feels like sand paper). Daughter with eczema in hives/pain and has to be coated with prescription hydrocortisone twice a day.

Anyone do this in your shower with the special shower heads(Ascorbic acid crystals)?

Add chemicals to your bath? (Ascorbic acid/calcium)

Trying to find a way around the dry skin for the winter and gobs of lotion.

Do you have a water softener in your house? That will help some, but not completely. St. Paul has some pretty hard water from what I remember. Also, I had started using Eucerin Calming Cream several years ago when i was diagnosed with eczyma. I also get the dried/cracked skin... working on cars doesn't help either since some of the fluids can be pretty harsh.

                Negative. Use Epsom salt.

Well, its not chlorine that they use its chloramine, smells about the same minor differences.

Anyway if you believe its giving you that much problems, human grade Vitamin C tablets will neutralize it. I get that complaint a lot at work, they think the chloramine is causing them skin problems. Use 1000mg roughly to treat a bath tub of water.

That is if you're taking a bath, otherwise you need a home treatment setup. I do not recall if there is one commercially available that will remove chloramine. Being that the water coming out of your tap, still has to meet specific standards.

Anyway yes it can be neutralized make sure you know if St. Paul uses chlorine or chloramine. I'm pretty sure everyone is using chloramine these days though since it will not evaporate like chlorine gas will.

They're neutralized by entirely different things.

Try searching "wet dressings" for eczema. I ended up at Mayo early in the month with SEVERE eczema. Topical steroid combined with wet dressings has mostly cleared it up.

If they are using chloramine in your water it will be harder to smell/taste the chlorine.

Also, if you have access to a spectraphotometer, chloraminated water has a greenish color
