I spent that amount of money on a ROCKING 2 channel setup that would blow that system out of the water.Originally posted by SDK View Post
It's not surround sound (yet), but it will give more aural pleasure than that system would. Plus it's completely upgradable.
$150 Klipsch KG4 speakers
$300 ACRUcrazy receiver.

Jesus christ, this system sports 10% THD....that's pretty bad.
I notice they are advertising wattage like crazy, which I doubt those speakers need anyways. The "subwoofer" is only about 6", which is half the size of what a real subwoofer really needsLast edited by GoldenPlump; 11-13-2009, 10:52 PM.

About 5 years ago I paid $3k for my Sony rear projection, what do you think I could get for it now? $500?Originally posted by Scotty07 View PostFap Fap Fap! Nice display.
It is simply amazing how much these have come down in price, and how much better than are than just five years ago.
Just over 5 years ago I bought a Fujitsu P50XHA10U (50" plasma) that was one of the top rated displays at the time. MSRP was about $10,000.....I bought it for $8,000....yes, you read that right.
Oh how we have come so far.

As a TCS baller, I'll be sleeping in my warm bed, enjoying the fact my time is worth more than the couple hundred bucks saved (at best) standing in line for a last-years model.Originally posted by OrangeCrush 86 View PostBeing a TCS baller, I will be there just to point and laugh at all the peasants. You stay classy Chet Beireis

The sony system is on sale for $269 though not over $400 like the ad says
My TV speakers do not work and the receiver I have is not even remote capable, so I cannot adjust the volume right now. I am debating a new TV or a new stereo. Just basic stuff. I have the dance parties out in the garage.

This year for blackfriday, I am not gonna be out in the cold trying to get my had on the limited items that are way cheap. I am just gonna be shopping the better deals on the standard stuff, don’t realy need any hype crap, just need some basic house hold stuff I hope to get some good deals on. Hopefully from ikea, I love that store.Originally posted by Silver Bullit View PostIkea is not out yet, but the rest are all posted here.. http://www.theblackfriday.com/You know when you walk into a bar and you see “that girl”, and know instantly she is out of your league? How does that feel, because I have no idea and never will.

For A/V I'd rather spend the money on a quality simple system that you can slowly upgrade and pawn off the old shit for about what you paid for em.Originally posted by SDK View PostThe sony system is on sale for $269 though not over $400 like the ad says

For example.
Buy a $50 used receiver (I have one for sale if you want for less, works with univ. remote too)
Buy $150-200 used speakers that will sound better than that system.
When you want, sell the $50 receiver for $50 and the speakers for what you paid and upgrade. Those home theatre in a box units typically depreciate pretty quick and are rarely upgradable. I had a very good $600 5.1 yamaha one that was completely upgradable yet my $150 speakers with a $50 receiver sounded much better and had way more bass than the 5.1 with it's cheap ass sub.
Just my $0.02 from someone who's already been there. Hell, buy a better used 5.1 system for less on craigslist!
